The Las Vegas Strip was the place that most of the hookups took place. For example, Pair O' Dice was the nightclub of choice if you wanted to hook up with someone in the 1930s, whether you were a local or visitor. This became one of the first spots to hook up in 1931. The name of this club changed in 1936 to the Ambassador club. The name changed one more time in 1939 to Club 91. The El Rancho Lounge opened in 1941 and was Las Vegas first strip resort where rich people and celebrities hung out. You would be able to find sugar mamas and sugar daddies at this location. The Nugget Nell was located in close proximity to the EL Rancho Lounge, which was a cocktail bar at the time and closed its doors several years after opening.
The Copa Room was opened in 1952. It attracted the attention of both locals and visitors due to its Copa Girls. The Landmark opened in 1969, after which it turned into a disco dance club with celebrities gracing its dance stage as well as locals. Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra sang there. The Teen Beat was opened in the early 1960s and an excellent hangout location for teens. It closed its doors in the late 1960s to the disappointment of many teenagers. The Shark Club welcomed both locals and visitors to its infamous hookup spot. This was considered both a dance club and disco club located close to the Las Vegas strip. It was once called the Jubilation during the 1980s. It could have been one of the largest disco clubs that ever existed around the world because of the space. It was 10,000 square feet and operated as a club and restaurant. In fact, a metal detector was installed at this hookup spot for the first time. It was the only spot in the area with a metal detector at that time. Patrons would be checked for weapons before entering the club.
The Brewery, a disco club was a great hangout spot. During the 1980s, it was located on Paradise Road. Its doors were closed for good in 1997. In 1996, the Utopia club was opened. It was located in close proximity to the MGM Grand. The club only opened for a few years, closing down in 2001, after which it was redesigned and was turned into the Empire Ballroom. Club Rio was opened in 1995 and saw the likes of locals and visitors from out of town. The club took pride in its live entertainment and Latin dance nights. Club Rio was closed in 2006.
